This policy explains what personal information we collect through commercialpropertymarketing.com.au and in the course of our work, why we collect it, how we look after it and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our work. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number, company and role.
- Project details you share with us, such as a site address, plans, drawings, images, budgets, timelines and the outcome you are after.
- Enquiry and chat content from our contact forms, live chat, email and phone calls.
- Tool inputs you choose to submit, for example details entered into our feasibility tool when you ask us to email you a report.
- Newsletter preferences if you subscribe to our market insights.
- Technical information collected automatically when you use the website, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site and approximate location. See Cookies and analytics.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health or racial information) and ask that you do not send it to us.
2. Our interactive tools
Your site on a billboard. When you add a photo, render or logo to the billboard on our home page, the image is processed in your browser and stays on your device. It is only sent to us if you choose to send it with an enquiry.
Feasibility tool. The numbers you enter are calculated in your browser. If you ask us to email you the report, we receive the details you entered along with your name and email address so we can send it and follow up if you want us to.
Live chat. Our chat is provided by tawk.to. Messages you send, and basic technical details about your visit, are stored by tawk.to so we can reply.
3. How we collect it
Most information comes directly from you: when you fill in a form, chat with us, email or call, subscribe, send files or engage us for a project. We may also receive information from people you work with (for example a developer, agent or builder who introduces you) or from publicly available sources such as business websites, ASIC records, LinkedIn and property listings. If we collect information about you from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
You can browse the website without telling us who you are. If you prefer to deal with us anonymously or by a pseudonym we will do our best, although we may not be able to provide a quote or deliver a project without contact details.
4. Why we use it
- To respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and proposals and deliver the marketing, visualisation and digital work you engage us for.
- To manage our relationship with you, including invoicing and project communication.
- To send you market insights, project news and offers where you have agreed or where it is otherwise permitted. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and we comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
- To run, secure and improve the website, measure how it is used and understand which campaigns bring people to it.
- To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed for the purposes above, with:
- Trusted contractors who help deliver projects (for example 3D artists, photographers, developers and printers), who receive only what they need for the job and are expected to keep it confidential.
- Service providers that run parts of our business, including website hosting, email, chat (tawk.to), analytics and advertising (Google), spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA), cloud storage and accounting.
- Your own project team where you have asked us to work with them.
- Professional advisers, insurers and authorities where required or authorised by law.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and other countries where Google and tawk.to operate their infrastructure. Where we use overseas providers we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Our website uses:
- Essential storage to make the site work, for example remembering a page transition, the time of day on the home page city or a chat session.
- Analytics (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you.
- Advertising (Google Ads) to measure enquiries from our ads and to show our ads to people who have visited the site.
- Security (Google reCAPTCHA) on forms to keep out spam and bots.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on and manage ad personalisation at Google My Ad Center. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
8. Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encrypted connections to the website, access controls on our systems and accounts and limiting who can see project files. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please take care when sending us confidential material and let us know if it needs special handling.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.
9. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first and in limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, in which case we will explain why.
